With a beginning in the Red Cross as a volunteer, Jean Ayoub became Operations Director during the Lebanese civil war. He served on several field missions for the International Red Cross before relocating to Geneva to re-design and supervise the Red Cross & Red Crescent Federation’s response to worldwide natural disasters as Director of Operations and Under Secretary General.

Jean then moved on to be a Consultant on humanitarian issues and turnaround management, before relocating to Paris to take up the role of Director for the French Telethon (AFM), in charge of the fundraising, and member of the Governing Board. At that time, the Telethon crossed the €100m fundraising bar for the first time ever.


Since 2008, Jean is the Secretary General and CEO of the International Social Service (ISS), driving the full transformation of the organization ahead of its 100th anniversary in 2024.


The International Social Service is a network of national entities and a General Secretariat that assist children and families confronted with complex social problems as a result of migration. Thanks to its presence in more than 120 countries, ISS is a global actor promoting child protection and welfare. In addition to its work on the ground, ISS undertakes training projects, awareness raising and advocacy work in an effort to better respect children's rights. ISS supports and helps approximately 75,000 families in the world each year.

Jean has travelled to more than 130 countries, has a deep understanding of the world's humanitarian and social affairs. He is a strategic thinker and committed to performance management, organizational change, and cultural diversity and gender balance in the digital age.
